GEETANJALI - The CDVani's debut album, GEETANJALI - Select compositions of Vani Arvind, was launched on October 8th 2011, with blessings from her guru Vidushi Smt. M.L. Bharathi and support from her family and friends.
Vani has been composing music since many years and has a number of compositions to her credit. She has been inspired by Indian deities, great music composers, Hindu temples, and present day music directors to name a few. These inspirations are reflected in her compositions in GEETANJALI. |

Ganapatiye modakava: Song on Lord Ganesha. He is the one who gets rid of all the obstacles. Praying him to protect us and show the right path. Chidambareshwara: Song in praise of Nataraja. Asking him to grant the nuances of Natya. Sangeeta varidhiye: On Goddess Sharadamba, describes her form as the Ocean of Music. sa-head, ri- eyes-, ga- ears, ma-tongue, pa- forehead, da- cheeks, ni- nose. Union of all 7 notes forms the mind. She is aroha and avaroha. Root of saptaswaras lives in her. She is the raga, bhava and tala. She is the mother of Knowledge and wisdom. With her merciful motherhood, she protects all of us. Tillana in Shrotasvini: This tillana on Sharadambe is dedicated to the Music Maestro Sri. Ilayaraja and famous musician Dr. Ghatam Karthick. This is in khandajati attatala with nadai malike (tishra, khanda and mishra) in anupallavi. Ninna bhajisuvudonde: On lord Aprameya (baby Krishna) who resides in Malur where Sri. Purandara dasa composed ‘jagadoddharana’. Let praying him endlessly be the only truth as he is eternal.We shall not ask for forgiveness for our sins instead beg him to grant us healthy mind to perform good deeds. Megharanjaniyagi baa: A composition on Sharadambe, seeking her in the form of rain, in dreams and in person. She is the ultimate form of Beauty, Goddess of power who is worshipped everyday with swara, laya, raga, and tana. Krishna O Krishna: This song on Krishna describes how mischievous baby Krishna was. “Where are you hiding? I have been searching for you. You ate away all the butter, drank milk and yogurt. I could hear you dance and you are mesmerizing the whole world with your flute. I am tired of waiting. Please come!” Shanmukhane: Song on Lord Subrahmanya in Kukke (South Canara). Oh Lord Muruga, Master of valli, Devasene. You have given shelter to Serpents like Nagaraja and Vasuki. Likewise, protect us also. You killed asura Taraka, like to walk around with Peacock very often and have gifted Kumaradhare river for us. Shree Satya Sai: This bhajan is on Shirdi Sai Baba. In kaliyuga (present world), Baba lives to show the right path and protect us wherever true faith resides. Ashtalakshmi: Let us pray Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth in her eight different forms and we shall not be deprived of any good things in our lives like health, wealth, peace, happiness, wisdom, knowledge etc. |
